Thank you to everyone who jumped aboard and helped grow our community. With an amazing crew like this supporting our school and students, the journey ahead looks bright… because Adventure Awaits!
Throwback Thursday Slate was presented at the Fe Throwback Thursday Slate was presented at the February association meeting. We thank Council Nom Com for all their hard work preparing the Slate.
Days 2 & 3 at the National PTA Legislative Confere Days 2 & 3 at the National PTA Legislative Conference were packed with meaningful conversations, powerful learning sessions, and purposeful time on Capitol Hill. I’m heading home energized and ready to share new advocacy tools and insights with our PTA presidents and advocacy chairs. Feeling proud that our California delegation showed up strong with 33 members — the largest group in the nation (perks of being from the most populated state!). We were under the strong leadership of Heather Ippolito, Robin Klau, and Jim Leung. We showed up ready to speak up for public education and for every child. I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside leaders from across the country. Our circumstances may look different state to state, but the mission remains the same: PTA is here for all children, always. Want to get involved in PTA Advocacy? ❄️ From sunshine to snow — Day 1 of the National P ❄️ From sunshine to snow — Day 1 of the National PTA Legislative Conference did not disappoint! Today we dove deep into the six National PTA priority areas that matter most for our kids: education funding, protecting immigrant children & families, food insecurity & child nutrition, family-school partnerships, online safety, and gun violence prevention. We heard from pediatric psychologists, gun-violence survivors, parent coaches, nonprofit founders, budget analysts, youth mental health advocates, and even had big conversations about AI literacy. The passion in that room was real. I hung out with PTA reps from Nevada, Georgia, Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky, and New Hampshire. We also had plenty of time to work with our California PTA reps as well. Our awesome Capo Valley Unified PTA neighbors are also in attendance. Tomorrow, we take it to the Hill. 🏛️ PTA advocates from across the country will be meeting with senators and representatives to champion policies that support every child in our public schools. This is what showing up looks like. 💙 “For the purposes of PTA, advocacy is supporting and speaking up for [all] children—in schools, in communities and before government bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children.” @irvine_unified @4thdistrictpta @californiastatepta @nationalpta @deerfieldptairvine
Jennie Bolinger, our VP Advocacy, just arrived in Jennie Bolinger, our VP Advocacy, just arrived in Alexandria, Virginia for the National PTA Legislative Conference. A few hours in and she’s already connected with advocates from Colorado, Michigan, Maryland, South Carolina, and Oceanside, California — a reminder of just how far people will travel when something matters. With 45+ states represented and over 300 attendees, the breadth of this movement is something to see. Monday is the conference, Then on Tuesday she heads to Washington D.C. to meet with our legislators directly. That’s what this is really about — making sure the people making decisions about public education actually hear from the communities living it. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent Irvine’s public schools as VP of Advocacy for IUCPTA.
