Today’s IUCPTA advocacy lunch was filled with inspiration, dedication, and the kind of energy that moves mountains for our students. We were honored to have IUSD School Board Trustee Lauren Brooks guide us through critical public education topics that matter most to our community. Our passionate advocates came together to dive deep into important discussions and prepare for our fourth district legislative conference in Sacramento—our Sacramento Safari! When we come together for our students, incredible things happen. Last night was the incredible kickoff of our IUSD/ Last night was the incredible kickoff of our IUSD/IUCPTA High School Advocacy Program and WOW — what a start! 🎉🔥 We gathered at Irvine High School, hosted by their amazing PTSA and Principal Dr. Hernandez, for our very first panel discussion. The energy in the room was electric from the moment students from SEVEN different high schools walked in! We kicked things off with a fun icebreaker so students could connect, collaborate, and start building relationships across campuses — because advocacy is stronger together 💪 And of course… we fueled up properly 🌮🍪 Junior’s Tacos + Chip Cookies = the perfect combo. (YUM.) The highlight of the night? A powerful, student-driven panel discussion featuring: ✨ Cassie Parham, IUSD Superintendent ✨ Jess Bracken, ITA President ✨ Amy Wang-Liao, IUCPTA President Our students asked thoughtful, bold questions and led meaningful conversations about leadership, advocacy, and making their voices heard. The passion in that room was inspiring! We have FOUR more weeks of discussions ahead — and then we’re headed to Sacramento to learn from experts and meet with our legislators! 🏛️ This is what student leadership looks like. This is how change begins. So proud of these students for stepping up, speaking out, and showing what’s possible when young leaders come together.
