On February 17th, we will celebrate Founder’s Day. On this date in 1897, our National PTA was founded by Alice McLellan Birney and Phoebe Apperson Hearst as the National Congress of Mothers. For more than 120 years, National PTA has strived to be a powerful voice for all children, a resource for families and communities that is relevant, and a strong advocate for public education. Founder’s Day is celebrated each year as a time to reflect and take pride in the achievements that our PTAs have accomplished. >Read brief history
